Ask the European Experts

at Rainbow Country Travel

about European River Cruises.

Our experience in Europe runs from backpacking to coach touring to, yes, river cruises.  And when we say we’ve been to 30 countries there, we don’t mean a 4-hour stop off a Mediterranean cruise…we’ve travelled these countries extensively.

A river cruise can turn into one of your largest ever travel investments, and shouldn’t be left to inexperienced agents who can’t properly advise you on such important subjects as comparisons of cruise lines and most desirable routings.

Here are some tips to watch for when arranging a river cruise holiday (surprisingly enough, they just happen to also be good reasons to contact us for your European river cruise vacation)……………

Tip #1:   One of the major considerations in choosing the right river cruise is the time of year, as high or low water will keep you off the river and turn your once-in-a-lifetime cruise into just another coach tour.

Tip #2:   Cruise lines rarely offer enough time in the arrival port, whether it be Paris or Budapest or points in between, and their optional pre-cruise packages are far more expensive than necessary.  Having an agent that’s spent time in these places and can recommend a good value hotel/apartment is invaluable.

Tip #3:  Inter-Europe flights are inexpensive if you know the right places to find them.  Combining one area of Europe with another has never been so easy, and can result in some fascinating, diverse vacations.  Want to spend  5 nights in Rome after cruising the Danube?  We can do it for you cheaply and simply.

Tip #4: Early booking bonuses and very sold-out sailings are good reasons to start planning your European cruise more in advance than necessary for most travel packages.
